This February, newlife and Rescue:Freedom are coming together for the eighth year of setting people free. This month, you are raising money to fund the operation of a vital new safe home in Colombia. Learn more below about the impact you can make through this safe home this year. Each year, you bring passion and creativity to the fight to end slavery, doing everything from basketball tournaments to bake sales to giving generously. In 2020, you raised over $118,000! Your efforts allowed women and children to be rescued from slavery and lives to be restored. We can’t wait to see how you fight for freedom this February and the lives that will be changed because of YOU.

The COVID-19 pandemic created dire circumstances for people around the world. Traffickers prey on this kind of desperation, which puts women and children at risk of exploitation. In early 2020, we learned about a group of women being exploited on the streets of Colombia. They were in need of help, but unable to receive urgent COVID-19 relief services due to lockdowns and government restrictions. We knew we had to act.
To meet this urgent need, we opened an emergency safe home. This safe home is led by a brave survivor of sex trafficking and provides a safe space for quarantine, access to medical care, food and educational support for children and their mothers. The women who live there have experienced sexual exploitation, and this safe home is a new start for them and their families to escape slavery. What started as an emergency shelter has now expanded to provide long-term care for more women. We need your help. The funds that you raise this month will support more women’s journeys to a life of independence free from slavery.
Every dollar given during Freedom February will fund the operations of this expanded safe home in 2021 to serve more women and their families who otherwise do not have hope for a life of freedom. Will you help us continue the life changing work they have begun?
