Leaving the Life: Embracing Freedom from Exploitation

“Have you been in a harmful relationship where you have experienced exploitation and abuse? Or has your life gone in a different direction than you expected or wanted? If so, this book is for you.”

Rescue:Freedom friends and leaders in the human trafficking space, Dr. Becca Johnson and Jessa Crisp, released a new book entitled, “Leaving the Life: Embracing Freedom from Exploitation.”

This book is for advocates and allies to help them better understand the heart and mind of victims and for survivors of human trafficking, encouraging them to get out and stay out of “the life.”

Throughout the years, Dr. Becca has trained many of our Local Partners in trauma-informed care and provided important resources and ongoing support to our network. Jessa Crisp is the co-founder and Executive Director of BridgeHope, a non-profit within the Denver-metro area.

The proceeds from the sale of the book go towards purchasing more copies to give as a resources to survivors of human trafficking.

“This book is a powerful picture of hope – but not the cheap, trivial hope that skips past the pain on a promise of some distant healing or bright future. Instead, the authors invite us into real, nuanced hope that dives into the pain, the fear, the manipulation, and the trauma…, and emerges triumphant. Jessa Crisp and Dr. Johnson are uniquely qualified to write a book like this.” – Rescue:Freedom’s CEO, Jeremy Vallerand
